Esbjerg Watertower

The Water Tower in Esbjerg was built in 1896-97. The local architect C. H. Clausen, whose many other buildings may be seen in the city of Esbjerg, designed it. The Water Tower was modelled on a German house from the Middle Ages and almost has a castle-like quality to it.

The tower has been the landmark of the Esbjerg city for many years. Today it is converted to a museum with changing special exhibitions as well as a permanent one about the history of the tower itself and other water towers in Europe. And from its top floor there is a breath-taking view over the city, the harbour and the whole environment.
