The Louisiana Museum of Modern Art is set in a large, old park situated along the North Zealand coast with a view out over the Øresund sound towards Sweden. The museum''s collection of modern art includes works by internationally renowned artists such as Arp, Francis Bacon, Calder, Dubuffet, Max Ernst, Sam Francis, Giacometti, Kiefer, Henry Moore, Picasso, Rauschenberg and Warhol. Each year, Louisiana holds six to eight major exhibitions of modern and contemporary art. These exhibitions show both classic works of modern art and new artists active internationally. In connection with exhibitions of individual artists or groups, the museum publishes catalogues, either in the form of the Louisiana Revy or as individual publications. Visitors to Louisiana experience the museum as an ensemble of art, architecture and landscape, rather than as a mere collection of contemporary art. The museum park provides the ideal setting for Louisiana''s collection of modern sculpture, just as the unique museum buildings, built between 1958 and 1998, serve as an evocative framework around the museum''s collection of twentieth-century art. With its relaxed atmosphere in the beautiful old park, and everything there is to discover there, Louisiana has a great deal to offer everyone: the collection, special exhibitions of internationally acclaimed art, films, concerts, a three-storey children''s house, indoor and outdoor café and museum shop with a large selection of art books, graphics, posters and design.
